Lake Tekapo
I stopped in Lake Tekapo on my way from Christchurch to Queenstown. Lake Tekapo is bright turquoise blue due to silt from glacial runoff. I hiked up a ridge next to the lake, which provided great views of the lake and the mountains on the other side of the ridge. I stayed at the Lake Tekapo YHA, which was a beautiful hostel right next to the lake.
